Friedensreich Hundertwasser, born in 1928, died in 2000, was an Austrian artist, who drew his inspiration from travel impressions to Morocco, Tunisia, Nepal, Tokyo, and Siberia. Taking Viennese Jugendstil as his point of departure, Hundertwasser developed an abstract, decorative, two-dimensional and vibrantly colorful, utterly distinctive style distinguished by ornamental spiral and labyrinth forms, circles, meanders and biomorphic shapes.
In 1981 Hundertwasser was appointed head of the master classes for painting at the Viennese Art Academy where he imparted his knowledge and ideas to numerous students who carried this creativity out into the world. Hundertwasser’s personal student designed the Grand Hotel Downtown interior und thus made it to a worldwide unique location.
We warmly welcome you as our guest und wish you a pleasant stay at the Grand Hotel Downtown.
